Savoy Room Available for Private Events

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

In addition to serving as an informal community gathering area, the Savoy room can be reserved for private events. The Chase Park Plaza’s Director of Catering, Kelly Rosenblatt, suggests the room lends itself well for nonprofit board meetings/dinners, baby and bridal showers, cocktail fundraisers, rehearsal dinners and even small wedding receptions.

“Whether residents entertain in their homes, one of our private rooms or the Savoy Room, they have access to everything in the hotel,” said Kelly. “Our catering staff will assist with every imaginable detail, from customized menus to tailored lighting to hiring entertainment and much more. We facilitate many events, and we offer our expertise and ideas to do anything to satisfy our residents’ desires for memorable events. It’s pretty special to know you have this amazing resource.”

To reserve the Savoy Room, please contact Jean Hummel at (314) 633-3031 or visit Jean in suite 207 on the second floor of The Park Plaza. Once the room is scheduled, you can then work with Kelly and the catering department to help plan and staff your event.

Savoy Room Name Recognizes The Chase’s Inspiration

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

The Private Residence community added another unique feature to its list of amenities, the Savoy Room. The resident gathering area is named after the historic building that inspired Sam Koplar to build The Park Plaza in 1929, the Savoy Plaza Hotel in New York City.

In January 1929, Sam Koplar, the original developer of the Park Plaza, visited the Savoy Plaza Hotel in New York City, prior to leaving on a trip for Europe. Upon his return, he decided to build a hotel just as luxurious in St. Louis. The Park Plaza, designed by architects Schopp and Baumann, was called “Park,” because of its proximity to St. Louis’ Forest Park, and “Plaza,” as a nod to the Savoy Plaza Hotel.

The Savoy Room serves as a community gathering area, and it includes a fireplace, dining spaces, plasma television, attached serving area and kitchen, conference table, lounge furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the front of The Chase Park Plaza and Forest Park.

Planning the Perfect Penthouse

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Perched above Forest Park and overlooking downtown St. Louis, the recently listed penthouse is an expansive layout, encompassing the entire 27th floor of the Park Plaza residential tower. The spacious living area features floor-to-ceiling windows to take in an unparalleled view of the city. We’ve been doing a lot of research on what we might do with the space, and we recently decided to offer a plan to create one spacious living area (with the option of a one- or two-story design).

The new offering is the first time in the building’s 81-year history that the top of The Chase Park Plaza will be home to just one family. To our knowledge, the penthouse area has been split into dual living areas and even served as the home of the Tiara Room restaurant in the 1950s.

The penthouse space lists at $4.5 million. Ownership will benefit from unmatched amenities, such as 24-hour valet service, a private elevator foyer for the penthouse, complimentary health club memberships, access to the Eau Bistro staff, security, room service, covered garage parking and much more.

We’re eager to see how a new owner will plan the perfect penthouse!

Ladue News Profiles “First Family”

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Ladue News recently featured a profile of our first residents, Dr. Jeffrey and Mrs. Judy Harris, in the publication’s “Finer Things” section. In the Nov. 20 piece, written by Trish Muyco-Tobin, the Harrises talk about their move from the ‘burbs to the big city, the proximity to their favorite restaurants and the amenities that have made it easy to come home to The Chase Park Plaza.

Check out the article and the wonderful photograph of the Harrises and their two dogs, Guinness and Rosie, by clicking here.

A big thanks to Jeff and Judy for being willing to share their story and open their home!

A Stress-free Thanksgiving at The Chase

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Skip the stress of meal prep and spend Thanksgiving with your family at The Chase.

For a new spin on Thanksgiving, consider the Eau Bistro Thanksgiving Tasting Menu from new executive chef Brian S. Hale. Dinner will start with a trio of ravioli, followed by potato wrapped mero, pistachio-encrusted lamb chops and a roasted apple crepe for dessert.

For a more leisurely dining experience, Café Eau will offer a special Thanksgiving dinner of mixed greens, ancho-rubbed turkey breast and chocolate chipotle crème carmel.

The Starlight Ballroom will offer a more traditional Starlight Thanksgiving Brunch (with two seatings: one at 11 a.m. and one at 1:30 p.m.) with salad, seafood and meat displays, breakfast items, sides, fruit, cheese, antipasto and assorted desserts. Thanksgiving specialties will include mesquite grilled turkey with natural gravy, oyster stuffing with andouille, hazelnuts and celery and corn bread stuffing with jalapenos, caramelized onions and pepitas.

The Chase Park Plaza Elevates St. Louis Living with Historic Penthouse Offering

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza debut highest-ever living space in St. Louis landmark.

The developers of The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza recently unveiled a historic floor plan and market offering to live atop the St. Louis landmark. One special resident will have the distinction of fully designing the building’s first-ever, full-floor home.

Perched above Forest Park and downtown St. Louis, the penthouse is an expansive two-story layout, encompassing the entire 27th floor of the Park Plaza residential tower. The spacious living area totals 6,700 square feet and features floor-to-ceiling windows to take in an unparalleled view of the city.

“Throughout the building’s 81-year history, the top of The Chase Park Plaza has never been home to just one family,” said Marcia Smith Niedringhaus, one of the developers of The Chase Park Plaza. “To our knowledge, the penthouse area has been split into dual living areas and even served as the home of the Tiara Room restaurant in the 1950s. After some extensive planning, we’re proud to offer this incredibly unique opportunity.”

The penthouse elevates what was already the highest price-point condominium in St. Louis, listed at $5.595 million. Ownership of this exclusive home includes unmatched amenities, such as 24-hour valet service, a private elevator foyer for the penthouse, complementary health club memberships, homemade meals by the EAU Bistro staff, security, room service, covered garage parking and much more.

“Beyond the views, services and location, we’re also offering the space as a virtually blank canvas for a buyer to create their dream home,” said Smith Niedringhaus. “We have developed several options for unique floor plans, but the future owner will have the freedom to develop the space in a manner which best expresses their individuality – not to mention generous allowances to customize the space for their tastes.”

The market opening of the penthouse comes just as The Private Residences welcome the second wave of moved-in residents. The project is expected to be completed by fall 2009. It remains the only development in St. Louis to offer luxury residences with all of the amenities of a world-class hotel.

Wedding Watching Season at The Chase

Monday, October 6th, 2008

In September and October, The Chase Park Plaza sees an influx of weddings; many couples choose The Chase for their wedding spot for the same reasons many of our residents have chosen to live in The Private Residences – the mix of location, service and comfortable hospitality. Director of Conference Services Basia Najarro has seen them all – the largest, most unique and all-around wacky weddings. Here are some facts about the weddings Basia has helped arrange:

• Largest wedding: 700 guests
• Most lavish and extravagant wedding: approximately $600,000 spent
• Most weddings held on a single day: 4 (one in each of the following spaces: the Empire, Khorassan, Starlight and Zodiac ballrooms)

In addition to these memorable events, The Chase has customized weddings to guests’ unique requests including:

• Horses in the front drive
• Fireworks lit in Forest Park as a backdrop for the wedding
• Wedding cakes made to look like a bride’s wedding dress
• A baton twirler parading the bridal party around Central West End and into The Chase
• The walls of the Zodiac’s terrace completely covered in flowers
• Acrobats suspended from the ceilings
• St. Louis “specialties” such White Castle hamburgers, Imo’s Pizza and Ted Drewes frozen custard

We invite our residents and guests to visit the Café Eau patio, have a cocktail at Chaser’s or simply relax in the lobby to witness wedding season in full swing; it’s a season not to be missed.
