Architect Chosen for Garden Terrace

The developers for The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza have selected Loomis Associates as the landscape architect for the third-floor garden terrace of the Park Plaza Tower. Headquartered in Chesterfield, Mo., Loomis has worked on a variety of land planning projects in the St. Louis region since 1977. The firm's past work includes Great Rivers Greenway, The Boulders at Katy Trail, Maryville Centre in Town and Country, and the Delmar Gardens office building in West County.

The terrace encompasses approximately 13,000 sq. ft., and will include a balance of planting and flower beds, paved social areas, an outdoor kitchen, lawn spaces, a water feature, quiet nooks, a pet exercise space and more.

Private Residences Surrounded by St. Louis' Top Shops

Aside from the Central West End proximity perk of premium dining, entertainment and cultural experiences for The Private Residences, future homeowners can also look forward to elite shopping. Emily Major, gift shop manager at The Chase Park Plaza, and Jeanne Venn, hotel concierge, helped Coming Home identify several of the shopping hotspots:

  • Jewelry: Christiane's Hand Crafted Jewelry, Gretchen P. Jewelry, McGinty Jeweler on The Plaza and The Silver Lady.
  • Apparel: Mezzanine is a popular niche boutique for women and youth apparel, while Adriano Goldschmied offers upscale denim for men and women.
  • Books: Check out Big Sleep Books or St. Louis' largest independent bookstore, Left Bank Books on Euclid.
  • Home décor and furnishings: Bowood Farms, Centro Modern Furnishings, Design Within Reach, Rothschild Antiques, The Great Frame Up and Xen Gallery.

Pool at the Chase Park Plaza Named One of World's Best

[Pool]In its Executive Woman online feature, Forbes magazine recently listed The Chase's pool as one of the finest fresh-air swimming pools for professionals to visit during business trips. The piece said:

"For decades, this '20s-era hotel was St. Louis's place to swing, the magnet for big bands and bigwigs, presidents and princes. Newly remodeled, The Chase still harks back to its glory days. The pool is splendidly set in a Romanesque Revival-style courtyard, and you can envision that proud day in 1956 when a bevy of Miss America contestants strutted their stuff here. Times (and bathing suits) have changed, but the pool retains its mellow charm, with flower-filled planters and the chance to dine alfresco. And it's heated, so the swim season spans spring through autumn, with early morning exercise classes."

STAFF PROFILE: Kelly Rosenblatt Delivers the Tastes of Home

Kelly RosenblattIn this ongoing series, Coming Home profiles people you may encounter as you make The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza your home. In this month's issue, Coming Home speaks with Kelly Rosenblatt, Director of Catering.

With more than 20 years in the hospitality industry, Kelly Rosenblatt says providing food and service is her passion. At The Chase Park Plaza, she directs the catering staff—managing prospective site visits, handling contracts and detailing events with flowers, music, decorations—pulling all the facets of an event together to achieve each event's unique vision.

How often does The Chase Park Plaza play host to an event?
We average about 150 events a week. There are about 70,000 sq. ft. of banquet space, if you take into account the conference center, three ballrooms and smaller meeting rooms. This can present interesting challenges for our team, as each event is its own entity with different guidelines for success. It keeps us on our toes and requires seamless teamwork involving all parts of the hotel.

What's the secret to your smooth events?
We have a very strong team of people who aren't afraid to share ideas, try new things, and quite simply, do whatever it takes to make an event happen. I genuinely feel there's no event we can't handle. We're always looking for what is new in the culinary and event industries, and equally open to client ideas. I also appreciate the hotel's leadership, as they constantly bring us fresh ideas.
