Residents Treated to Private Evening with Chef
On Oct. 8 and 15, Eau Bistro chef de cuisine Marie-Anne Perez played hostess to future residents. Showcasing her Italian and French culinary roots, Marie-Anne guided guests through the recipe for one of her fall menu offerings, warm Jonathan apple and onion pissaladière with Amish blue cheese and arugula. “For me, the best part of The Private Residences is that people are making The Chase their home," said Marie-Anne. "Having regular customers is so delightful."

Chase Park Plaza Staff Profile
Smith Makes Home of Chase Park Plaza
In this ongoing series, Coming Home profiles people you may encounter as you make The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza your home. In this month's issue, we speak with Jim Smith, managing partner, Kingsdell L.P. Jim holds direct responsibility for development and management of The Chase Park Plaza.
What brought you to acquire The Chase Park Plaza?
General Electric, the former owner of The Chase, engaged me as listing broker when they decided to market the property in the early 1990s. I worked with several others to acquire the property... which we initially turned into an apartment complex. We soon realized its history as a hotel added value, and we wanted to preserve the tradition of high-end hospitality.
Why are you so committed to The Chase?
The Chase isn’t the product of any one individual’s vision. It’s currently my turn to shepherd this magnificent property, to continue the legacy, and leave my unique mark. This is not just another real estate project. We’re in the hotel business, the restaurant business, the entertainment business and the real estate business. You can get whatever you want right here at The Chase.
What are your hobbies?
I love the American West. I go to the Grand Canyon every couple of months. I've hiked almost every trail within the area. I also love to fly; I took my first lesson at age 21 and bought my first plane at 30. I now have a Piper Mirage that I fly out of Spirit of St. Louis Airport.
